I have to confess, I was slightly worried that spending the whole week sewing at my work experience would dampen my enthusiasm for recreational sewing but thankfully not. When Saturday morning swung round I was eager as can be to get back in my new sewing room and start on a project I've had in mind for a long while. :)
This is the same gorgeous tweed fabric I used for this handbag I knew it would make a lovely Autumn skirt. I used the same shape as this skirt, which seems to suit my body shape really well and is insanely simple! I used the skirt sections from this New Look pattern and the only measurement you need is around your waist. Cut the waistband to this measurement and sew to the skirt, adjusting the pleats to fit the waistband! Easy peasy, couldn't be simpler. The skirt is just above knee length and so thick and warm it will be great with tights and boots in the Autumn and Winter, the only downside is the tweed is quite itchy if you're not wearing tights. I considered lining it but I tend to prefer to wear a seperate petticoat so it's fine :) Roll on Autumn!
